Social Media & Community Commenting Policy

Tim Self for School Board

The Tim Self for School Board campaign welcomes respectful dialogue, thoughtful questions, constructive criticism, and differing perspectives about the future of Anderson School District Five.

We believe public conversations about education should reflect the same values we hope to encourage in our schools: civility, honesty, accountability, dignity, and respect.

Our campaign is committed to Putting Kids First, and that commitment extends to the way we communicate with one another.

Community Standards

We encourage participation and welcome disagreement. However, we reserve the right to hide, remove, or report comments, posts, images, links, or other content appearing on digital platforms managed by our campaign that include:

  • Hate speech, discriminatory slurs, or language targeting individuals or groups based on protected characteristics.

  • Threats, intimidation, harassment, bullying, or encouragement of violence.

  • Profanity directed at individuals, sexually explicit material, or obscene content.

  • Personal attacks, including derogatory remarks targeting candidates, families, students, educators, or community members.

  • Disclosure of private or sensitive personal information without consent, particularly information concerning minors.

  • Knowingly false statements presented as facts, impersonation, or materially misleading content intended to deceive.

  • Spam, fraudulent links, repetitive disruptive comments, or unrelated commercial solicitations.

  • Content that violates applicable laws or the policies of the hosting platform.

Our Right to Moderate

The Tim Self for School Board campaign reserves the right, at its sole discretion and consistent with applicable law, to hide, remove, restrict, or report content that violates these community standards.

We may also restrict or block accounts engaging in repeated violations, harassment, threats, or coordinated abusive behavior.

We are not obligated to provide individual notice or engage in public debate before moderating content.

Respectful Disagreement Is Welcome

Criticism of Tim Self, his positions, campaign decisions, or qualifications is welcome when expressed respectfully.

Disagreement alone is not grounds for removing a comment. These standards apply equally to supporters, opponents, and other members of the community.

Our Commitment

This campaign believes that how we communicate matters.

Our children are watching. Our educators are watching. Our community is watching.

We can disagree without demeaning one another. We can ask difficult questions without attacking families. And we can participate in the democratic process without abandoning respect for our neighbors.

Putting Kids First means leading by example.
