I GOT MOMMA’S ENDORSEMENT!
And believe me, this one wasn’t automatic.
Before I decided last Thursday (8/7) to run for School Board, Momma was one of the people whose counsel I sought. She spent 40 years as a public school teacher, so when I asked what she thought, I got the speech.
“Tim, you need to remember something. You have never been a classroom teacher. You haven’t done what these teachers do every day. Listen to them!”
Insert three seconds of awkward silence…
“Listen to the principals, administrators and staff who are bringing their best every day.”
Another three seconds of awkward silence…
“And listen to parents. They know their children better than anyone.”
I said, “Yes, Ma’am!”
And she’s right.
Ultimately, this isn’t about any one group. It’s about our kids.
Students and their families, teachers, administrators and staff deserve a Board of Trustees that listens to them, supports them and creates the space for them to do what they do best.
I believe a Trustee has to listen in every direction, seek first to understand, demonstrate cooperation, establish clear expectations, provide accountability and continually bring everyone back to the same question:
“What is best for our kids?”
That’s the balance I intend to bring.
So when Momma publicly announced this week:
“I would vote for him if I could, even if I wasn’t his mother.”
I figured I better take the WIN! 😂❤️
I need you to get involved. I can’t, and I don’t want to, do this alone.
Just think…
“What’s Possible?!”
